VAULT HUNTERS

In Borderlands 4, you play as a Vault Hunter: a badass mercenary on the hunt for alien Vaults, wielding wild guns and devastating abilities. Each Vault Hunter class offers a unique playstyle that empowers you with one of three signature abilities called Action Skills. Between your Action Skills and three branching skill trees, each packed with socketable abilities and potent passive effects, you can create a huge variety of supremely powerful builds.

VEX THE SIREN

Vex had a rough upbringing that was made more complicated by receiving her Siren powers. Her cynical and sarcastic demeanor comes from having to fend for herself and scrape for everything she’s got. But underneath her salty exterior, Vex is an empath who knows better than anyone how much life can suck. Ever the pessimist, Vex still believes in helping others. And if helping others means dealing damage to oppressive jerks, Vex will always be first in line.

Rafa THE EXO-SOLDIER

Rafa was born and raised in microgravity, which severely altered his bone density and musculature, making it impossible for him to survive elsewhere. Desperate to explore, he signed up to Tediore’s military force. In exchange for a tour of duty, his body was altered for a new kind of exo-suit. But when it became clear Tediore never intended to end his service, Rafa went AWOL. Now he’s on the run and plans to enjoy whatever time he has left before his Tediore Deadframe ends him for good.

HARLOWE THE GRAVITAR

Harlowe is a former Maliwan combat scientist, driven by the need to understand how things work. While this initially made her an outcast amongst her Traunt relatives, Harlowe has used her intellect to bring new tech and gadgetry to the battlefield as a Vault Hunter. Harlowe’s brilliance is apparent in everything she does, but so is her enthusiasm and love for life. Harlowe brings everything to the fight, including her sunny disposition. Always ready to give a beat down, her spirit can’t be beat.

Amon THE FORGEKNIGHT

Amon was raised in a Vault monster-worshipping cult—until the Vault was opened and the creature turned on everyone he loved. As the only survivor, he dedicates his life to finding and killing as many of these beasts as he can. Amon, a warrior-poet, is introspective and unflinching to his duty, but despite his hardened appearance, he has a warm attitude, often regaling comrades in arms with stories and advice earned throughout his travels.

WELCOME TO KAIROS

This vast, beautiful world is rife with warring factions, deadly fauna, and subjugated inhabitants under the rule of the oppressive Timekeeper. Kairos has four distinct, seamlessly connected regions to explore: the rolling hills of the Fadefields, the frigid peaks of Terminus Range, the shattered lands of Carcadia Burn, and finally the Dominion, the Timekeeper’s impenetrable fortress city.

CHARACTERS

Say hello to your sworn enemy and some helpful allies that await you on Kairos.

TIMEKEEPER: The Timekeeper is the well-mannered and disturbingly calm tyrant who rules over the prison planet of Kairos. Obsessed with order, he uses cybernetic implants to watch over and control his citizens.

CLAPTRAP: Claptrap is a fast-talking, overenthusiastic robot built by Hyperion and now recruiting resistance fighters on Kairos! Eager for adventure and desperate for friendship, Claptrap is still as relentless as he is endearing.

ZANE: Zane, a semi-retired hitman turned Vault Hunter, is equal parts cocky and charismatic. He treats every fight like a job and every job like a joke, but he’ll always have your back when it counts.

DEFIANT CALDER: Defiant Calder is an Auger whose sense of justice far out-measures his stature. Both boisterous and resourceful, Calder laughs in the face of danger and is determined to see the end of Timekeeper’s reign over his people.

WEAPONS

Every Vault Hunter knows that you always need an arsenal of outrageously powerful guns at the ready. There are eight unique manufacturers supplying the billions of wild and deadly weapons you’ll find in Borderlands 4, each with their own characteristics and trademark strengths. With the new Licensed Parts system you’ll even find guns with behaviors and abilities of multiple manufacturers, giving Borderlands 4 even greater variety for your best-ever loot chase.

ORDER:Use the advanced arsenal of the Timekeeper’s Order army against him, loading extra ammo into high-powered bursts to eliminate targets with precision accuracy.

RIPPER: Good things come to those who wait—especially when it comes to Ripper guns, which need a moment to spin up before blasting at full-auto for as long as you hold the trigger.

DAEDALUS: Easy to use, reliable, and quick to reload, Daedalus guns run the gamut from full-auto assault rifles and shotguns to burst-fire pistols and SMGs, with the ability to use multiple ammo types.

TEDIORE: After you’ve emptied the clip of a Tediore weapon, toss your spent gun like a grenade, then get right back to firing as a fully loaded replica digistructs into your hands.

MALIWAN: Burn, freeze, and shock anyone who gets in your way with the elemental damage of Maliwan’s high-tech weapons, withering your enemies with damage-over-time effects.

JAKOBS: Jakobs’ black-powder firearms pack some mean critical-damage ricochets and can unload bullets in a flash, perfect for sharpshooters with twitchy trigger fingers.

VLADOF: With their high rate of fire and huge magazines, Vladof rifles can shred your enemies to pieces—but all that firepower comes at the cost of reduced accuracy and heavier handling.

TORGUE: When EXPLOSIONS are the only answer, turn the opposition into a smoldering crater with Torgue launchers, packing heavy-duty explosive rounds that can switch to sticky projectiles.

NEW GAME MECHANICS

RIDE ON YOUR DIGIRUNNER

Cruising around Kairos is a breeze on your personalized Digirunner vehicle, which you can summon almost anywhere. When you’re not jet-boosting across huge expanses or using the Digirunner’s front-mounted turret to mow down enemies, you can customize its components and handling via unlockable Hover Drives, and give it a new aesthetic with collectible cosmetics.

EXPLORE WITH ECHO-4

This loyal drone buddy is always ready to provide guidance with the press of a button, showing you the best path across Kairos to your next objective. Your ECHO-4 also lets you upgrade your ammo-carrying capacity or change your Vault Hunter’s cosmetic appearance no matter where you are.

TAKE KAIROS BACK

As you traverse Kairos, keep an eye out for Points of Interest that you can claim for your Crimson Resistance, weakening the Timekeeper’s grip on the planet. Once you’ve wiped out any nearby enemies, you can reclaim places like safe houses to expand your Fast Travel options, or silos with decommissioned Order communications balloons that let you take to the sky, scope out your next target, and aid your search for elusive Vault Key Fragments.
