Every time you enter the world as a Freelancer, you’ll select a powerful javelin exo-suit – armour designed to provide its pilot with incredible offensive and defensive capabilities. Move at incredible speed, rocket across the skies, or safely roam watery depths. As you play, you will constantly progress both your own abilities as a javelin pilot and the combat and traversal capabilities of your growing collection of exo-suits.

The javelin exo-suits and accompanying gear, weapons, and equipment – can be extensively customised and personalised. As you rank up and defeat enemies, you’ll gather gear and complete milestones that unlock amazing personalisation options and turn your Javelins into testaments to your ability and achievement.

Anthem’s vast, ever-changing world features unpredictable conditions, hazards, and enemies. Over time, Anthem will develop and expand – introducing unique stories, challenges, and world-shaking events. This world is both beautiful and deadly – and will test you on each expedition you embark on with your Freelancer team.

Launch into three cohesive experiences of ways to play:

• Missions – your missions are the most direct way for you to progress in Anthem by gaining experience, finding loot, and playing through the story. You can take on missions by yourself, invite friends to join you, or use matchmaking to open the mission up to fellow players.
• Strongholds – The most difficult adventures in Anthem are Strongholds. Strongholds are similar to Dungeons, but are longer and more challenging. Designed to push your skills to their absolute limits, Strongholds repay your bravery with even greater rewards. As Strongholds are the most demanding challenge, available to only experienced Freelancers, you’ll never need to take them on with a full squad.
• Freeplay – Choose a javelin and explore the world on your own (or with a squad) with Freeplay, where you are free to roam the world of Anthem. You can discover secrets you may have missed during combat or traverse the land and skies to find crafting materials or gear. Familiarise yourself with Anthem’s unique geography while collecting items that will help you level up for your next battle.
