There’s only been one month so far in 2021, however it started off very strong on the video game release front. Did you miss out on what was released last month, see our article here to find out. In January, it was less about quantity and more about quality. We are expecting to see many new video games this year, especially for the new generation consoles. If you still have your PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, know that you are in the majority and video game publishers are still catering for you for some time to come. If you are ready to upgrade or you just want to feast your eyes, click here.
February game release is all about remastering and new edition of fan favourites, … and err speed – a little secret between me and you, this article was supposed to be called “Upcoming video game releases this February 2021”, but as at publication, Control and Destruction AllStars have already been released (on 2 February) and The Nioh Collection is out on 5 February. See below for a little more information about these titles.
The Nioh Collection Release Date and Details

Many PlayStation gamers are already familiar with the Nioh series. But just in case you are not, the Nioh franchise is set in a Japan plagued with grotesque, merciless demons. This action role-playing series require you to survive as a samurai in this demon-plagued land. Publishers, Koei Tecmo are dropping a number of different versions of Nioh on 5 February so it can get a little confusing, but we have set a little information about them below:
- Nioh 2: The Complete Edition (PlayStation 4) – This includes the game and all three DLC’s for the PlayStation 4; if you already have this game on the PS4, then purchasing the DLC’s on PSN store would probably work out cheaper for you. In a bid to always look out for the best value for our customers, on release, we will determine the better value for money: (a) purchasing Nioh 2: The Complete Edition on its own; or (b) purchasing Nioh 2 Standard Edition and the three DLC’s. Note that if you own Nioh 2: The Complete Edition on PS4, you will be able to upgrade to the PS5 remastered version at no additional cost with an update.
- Nioh 2 Remastered: The Complete Edition (PlayStation 5) – This includes the game and all three DLC’s for the PlayStation 5. We do not recommend this title, unless you have Nioh for the PS4 and are looking to enjoy Nioh 2 solely for the PS5.
- Nioh Remastered: The Complete Edition (PlayStation 5) – Nioh and all three DLC’s are remastered for the PlayStation 5. Again this is not a strong recommendation if you are looking to also purchase Nioh 2.
- The Nioh Collection (PlayStation 5)
The Nioh Collection combines Nioh and Nioh 2 and all their accompanying DLC’s for the PS5, and is therefore our top recommendation out of all these versions. At VG Stores, we put our money where our mouth is and we will be stocking this version; if however you are after any of the other versions, feel free to contact our customer service via Whatsapp.

Control: Ultimate Edition Release Date and Details

Control is by far one of the most underrated game in Nigeria; you do not hear many people talking about it – the game revolves around a secret U.S. government agency, so maybe gamers are taking it literally. Despite this, the game has won more than 80 awards since release, including IGN’s Game of the Year in 2019. The version released on 2 February is for the new generation consoles – the Ultimate Edition contains the game and two expansions (The Foundation and AWE), along with The Expeditions end game mode, Photo Mode, and all the updates released since the title’s launch.
Control: Ultimate Edition is available for free download between February 2 and March 1 on PlayStation Plus. We will therefore delay making this game available in store until after this date. If however you prefer a physical copy, Whatsapp us today.

Destruction AllStars Release Date and Details

This is a game we have been excited to see ever since its announcement. It was supposed to be a PS5 launch title but its release was moved back till now. You will be entertained! Personally I don’t think there is any other game on the PS5 (for now) that will deliver as much raw fun as this title. Essentially, it is a demolition derby – if you are not sold, note that this game is presently available for free download between 2 February and 5 April on PlayStation Plus. Again, we will delay stocking this game until after 5 April. If before then, you want a physical copy, Whatsapp us.
